Symptoms
User reported: "When trying to install I receive an
error about not finding SHELL.DLL and a window about unable to run a 16
bit program".
The error message may contain all or some of the
following:
16 bit window Subsystem
>> C:\system32\autoexec.net
>> system file is not suitable to run
>> MS DOS with Microsoft windows application
Cause
There is a missing or corrupt Windows XP system files
command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.
