Profile of Doug Syme, B. Eng

Doug Syme is the founder and principal of Saberis Inc., software integrators and developers for the Building Supply and Kitchen Industries. Making technology work for dealers and manufacturers is his goal.

Doug is a graduate electrical engineer from McGill University, Montreal, where he specialized in automation. He completed his graduate studies in management at the same university.

Shortly after graduation, Doug was conducting computerized simulations for electric power utilities. This experience, plus his expertise in operations research and statistics, led him to the job as system engineer in charge of computerized distribution systems at the Major Appliance Division of General Electric (Canada).

Following completion of the project at GE, Doug joined the family furniture manufacturing business. Over the next 14 years, he held positions as Finance Manager, Production Manager, Marketing Manager, General Manager and finally President.

Under his management, the company computerized in the '70s and implemented an MRP system. A few years later the company was sold. Doug set up his own consulting business in early 1989.

During the past fifteen years, Doug has been involved in numerous projects for kitchen cabinet, commercial cabinet, stainless steel cabinet and furniture manufacturing. He has also had extensive experience with Kitchen Cabinet dealers and Building Supply dealers.

After creating system integration solutions for the kitchen and building supply industry for over a decade, Doug Syme and his team have become leading system integration experts.
